Leadership Realignment Positions Columbia Insurance for Specialty Market Success
Keith Maciejewski Promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer
Columbia Insurance is pleased to announce Keith Maciejewski’s promotion to senior vice president and chief underwriting officer. On Jan. 1 Maciejewski assumed expanded leadership responsibilities, including oversight of Columbia’s excess and surplus (E&S) operations and its new subsidiary, Ozark Specialty Insurance Company (Ozark).
“One of the key initiatives we’re focusing on in 2026 is expanding underwriting solutions for our agency partners,” said Todd Ruthruff, Columbia’s president and CEO. “Launching our E&S operations through Ozark creates many new opportunities, but it’s essential our partners experience these solutions as complementary and synchronized. Keith’s leadership will be instrumental in aligning these underwriting solutions under a unified vision.”
Since joining Columbia in April 2024, Maciejewski has worked closely with regional vice presidents and other leaders to drive strong underwriting profitability while outpacing industry growth. “Keith’s balanced approach to disciplined underwriting and calculated risk taking has helped us build a foundation for future growth,” Ruthruff said. “His expanded role recognizes the trust we have in his leadership as we prepare for the next chapter in our strategy.”
Maciejewski looks forward to leading during this transformative time. “I am honored to take on this expanded role at such a pivotal time for Columbia. Our commitment to delivering innovative, agent-focused solutions—especially through our new E&S capabilities—positions us to meet the evolving needs of our agency partners. I look forward to working with our talented team to build on our strong foundation and drive strategic growth.”
As part of this transition, Aaron Rieth, vice president of E&S, will report to Maciejewski. Since joining Columbia in November 2024, Rieth has played a critical role in establishing Ozark, leveraging his deep industry expertise and collaborative approach to lay the groundwork for this new profit center.
“With Keith and Aaron at the helm of our E&S efforts, Columbia is positioned for success. We are excited to keep leading the industry in people-first partnerships by bringing more than 135 years of mutual values into the fast-changing specialty market,” Ruthruff said.
